2018 US Open Preview

Hello everyone!!

It’s time for our first ever Major Championship Preview!!

Preview posts are something you all can get used to and hopefully enjoy.  I plan to do them on the Wednesday of the week of the major.  During these posts we will be highlighting the players to watch during the tournament.  These are players that I believe to have a good chance at winning this tournament.

So lets get the first of hopefully many Major Championship previews under the way!

The 2018 US Open will be held at Shinnecock Hills in Southhampton, NY.

Shinnecock Hills is a links style golf course.  Making this the second year in a row that the US Open has been held at a links style golf course.  A par 70 course that usually plays at 6,900 yards has been stretched out for this tournament and will be playing at over 7,400 yards.  It will also include a par 3 that is an astounding 252 yards.

With this length and its above average wide fairways Shinnecock Hills could be a long hitters dream. Which brings me to the players that I will be highlighting.

Dustin Johnson: DJ is probably the first person people think of when they think of long hitters on the PGA Tour today.  With his extreme length off the tees DJ will be able to give himself looks at the hole that others simply won’t even be able to reach.  Additionally DJ has thrived at links style courses in the past.  All in all I think Johnson could very well be looking at his second US Open in three years.

Brooks Koepka:  Koepka is the 2017 US Open champion.  Now returning for the 2018 US Open at Shinnecock Hills a course that is very similar to Erin Hills where he was victorious last year things are already looking good for Koepka.  Add in the fact that he possesses the rare talent of power and accuracy I think a repeat is a very real possibility for Brooks Koepka.

Justin Thomas:  Aside from getting fans thrown out it seems like Justin Thomas has been in contention on Sunday during almost every tournament that he’s played in this year.  A good accuracy and short game player with above average distance as well Thomas is a very skilled player in all areas of the I think this could be a very good week for him.  Just as long as the tough New York crowd doesn’t get to him.

Like always I hope you enjoy this weeks post.  If your new to the page PLEASE hit the follow button it would help me out a lot and I hope you all have a great rest of your week and enjoy the tournament.

Lastly I’d like to wish a very happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there!
